Not only is alpaca a wonderfully luxurious natural fiber, but alpaca cultivation provides small family farmers in the area with a steady source of income (and fabulous gardening fertilizer). Alpaca are also one of the few herd animals whose grazing and roaming do not damage the terrain they live on.
