When I’m designing spaces, I try to select one or two bold pieces as a showstopper in each room and let the rest of my selections quietly complement them. My clients fell in love with SmithHönig’s Moroccan Knot wallpaper, and we made all the other styling decisions from there. This wallpaper really is the centerpiece of the pantry! The kaleidoscope pattern and color will truly make this little space the jewel box of the kitchen. I also loved using their brass nesting bowls to help keep those little items in every pantry that get shoved to the back of the shelf organized.

Hey everyone, Emily June Spanos of @emilyjunedesigns here today 👋🏼✨ How’s everyone doing? I bet I can speak for most of you when I say that these times of uncertainty have been tough. But, it’s part of both my personal and design philosophy to radiate positivity and brightness, and I feel so incredibly lucky to be a part of this amazing community who is so supportive of one another. I’ve really been taking this time to reflect on projects that have brought me joy — like this one that I recently worked on with SmithHonig!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I have been working with my client for over a year now on their home and we just finished their kitchen. After the remodel, they were just sick of having drab boring pantries—one of which didn't even have a light fixture. Revamping the pantries was a natural next step. My clients love color about as much as I do and were excited to go for bold with SmithHönig’s Moroccan Knot wallpaper, amazing luxurious fuschia velvet pillow, linen Sebra Stripe throw pillow, brass nesting bowls and signature tassels.

My approach to designing their new pantry started with a fresh take on spring cleaning, which can seem daunting and drab at times right?! Lots of white and clear bins, making piles of what to throw away and what to give away...but I like to take a different approach. I think spring cleaning gives you an opportunity to revamp and redesign the very rooms you’re cleaning out. Using wallpaper, brightly colored bins and baskets, changing out shelving and lighting can all make a difference. And what better time to do it than now, while we’re all at home!
