Tour this Luscious Boho Luxe London Hotel
This plush London Hotel is actually a tiny, two-guestroom micro hotel called 40 Winks.
Housed in a lovely house that was built in 1717, this London hotel is almost 300 years old. It’s also quirky, eccentric and playfully glamorous. The kitchen is completely over the top!

40 Winks is a hybrid between a hotel and a vacation rental. Its been described as a “micro-boutique” hotel (and German Vogue called it the most beautiful in the world!), but with just two guest rooms, it feels like being in a private home.
The property is principally aimed at people who work in fashion or the arts, or who have at least a passion for design and a love of color and light.
I think it was designed specifically for me. I’m absolutely 100% in love!
From the front door of this ultra private London hotel, you enter into an almost pitch black hallway and then have your shoes confiscated!
“It’s like walking into a dream, going on a journey into the world of somebody else’s imagination….in this case, mine. It’s a wonderful piece of theatre, ” says David Carter, the famed interior designer who owns the place.
David’s favorite room – and mine – is the opium den-esque drawing room. It has a kind of naughty, understated decadence about it.
(I’d like my whole LIFE to have a naughty, understated decadence about it!)
40 Winks has always been a hugely successful location for fashion and celebrity shoots.
Italian Vanity Fair, Japanese Elle, and American Vogue are just a few that have conducted shoots here.
And check out the kitchen y’all. The detail is all-encompassing and overpowering – in an intensely perfect way.
(You know, a bit like that feeling you have when you’re overwhelmed by new love?)
How completely decadent…and romantic…and yes – sexy!
Plus – and this is a huge bonus – you’re in a London hotel. Which means, you’re in London – one of my two favorite cities in the world.
London’s restaurants, bars, shops, museums, galleries, gardens and events are always evolving and changing, so before you go, check out a site like Time Out London to see exactly what’s on during your trip.
And if you want to feel like a boho princess, book one of the rooms at 40 Winks!
I love every detail in every room of this tiny, lovely, perfect London hotel.
The overt decadence of some rooms, the quiet restraint of the sleeping spaces…It’s like poetry. Or jazz.
The large bath with its nickel-plated tub, wall mural and beaded curtain is perfect. Don’t you think? (I’ll be in the tub, if you need me…)
If you’re craving a bit of drama in your life – this is your spot…40 Winks in London.
