2025 Color Trends
Do color trends matter? For better or worse, an evolving color palette affects everything from car choices to fashion runways. And while we're not ones for mindlessly following a trend, we do notice when prevailing colors start to change.
For the Pantone 2025 Color of the Year, the color institute chose PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse. Its a warm, rich, brown hue that suggests chocolate and coffee. Is the color as comforting as its name suggests? See what you think. Here are some favorite pieces that evoke the look.
Color Palette #1
Sherwin Williams chose a color capsule, rather than a single color for 2025, and their choice features a warm brown, as well. The palette includes the modern, and slightly dreamy additions of chartreuse, mauve, and a moody gray-blue.
We're loving how these hues work together and, like SW's director of color marketing, Sue Wadden, we find them refreshingly useable.
Color of the Year 2025
HGTV Home for Sherwin Williams
Meanwhile, HGTV Home for Sherwin Williams selected a timeless soft blue-green called Quietude. It's a color that looks equally at home in a modern spa, on a new build front door, or in a vintage Connecticut farmhouse interior. Luscious for home decor throughout the home.
Behr's Color of the Year
Behr Paints chose a rich burgundy with warm brown tones and tons of depth that's evocatively called "Rumors". For some reason, we imagine a vintage speakeasy done up in this color, and we can't decide if its the color itself or the name that does it!
In any case we inevitably love a jewel tone - and Behr describes this as a deep ruby red.
Benjamin Moore
Benjamin Moore's Color of the Year is Cinnamon Slate, a gorgeous velvety brown with shades of heathered plum. It fits in perfectly with the the other COTYs this year, and we're definitely sensing a theme.
Benjamin Moore suggests pairing this with accents of pink, tan, purple, or teal -- a color palette that speaks to our hearts! We love it as painted trim paired with our Bakuba Lodge wallpaper or fabric!
Color Palette #2
We come full circle, with a palette built around Pantone's 2025 Color of the Year, Mocha Mouse. We absolutely love this heady combination of floral tones (with names you can almost smell, like Viola, Tendril, Gardenia, Cornflower, and Rose Tan) are blended with a shaded Willow green, and a grounding Cobblestone.
If you love the idea of mixing multiple colors into your space, consider starting with this luscious palette. It works great in dining rooms, living rooms, bedrooms -- or as the basis for a beautifully layered tablescape. Discover this Pantone palette with our picks, below.
