What to Pack for a Romantic Winter Getaway
I hope there’s a romantic winter getaway in your very near future! Are you wondering what to pack?
Whether it’s your first weekend away together or your tenth anniversary, you’ll want to look and feel stylish in a real world kind of way. You definitely don’t want to work to hard at it!
So here’s what I’m thinking…
For the road trip that gets you there…
Keep it comfortable – but feminine and flirty, too. I say ditch the jeans for the weekend and go for soft joggers or even a skirt!
Consider a cute and on-trend bomber jacket – maybe one that’s embellished – and some cozy flats. I like this sequined version…
Another layering option would be a colorful fleece jacket like this one – that you could pair with boots or sneakers.
Or, if you really love layers, how about a soft cardigan over a tee…?
With one or two thin layers underneath (depending on the weather) you could top everything off with this Sherpa Vest. Cozy!
Controversy Alert: I know people who say that Uggs are over, but seriously – what’s better for lounging around a log cabin? You can wear these in the car, or on the walk down to the firepit, or while you’re sitting together on the veranda having coffee…that’s what they’re for!
And when you’re considering what to pack, these Cardi Uggs are soft and lightweight, which is another big plus. You can wear them up, folded over or slouched down.
For cozy lounging and cuddling with the one you love…
Keep those Uggs handy. And take a big, soft blanket scarf with you. You can pair it with your coat when its cold out, or wrap it around your shoulders when you’re lying around in your jammies. This pink plaid one is super cute.
And speaking of jammies, I love these long john style pajamas. They’re exactly what to pack for winter cuddling — and if the weather turns extra cold, you can even layer them under your clothes!
Here’s another pretty blanket scarf. This one is really big and I just love how it looks.
For dinners, sight seeing and more…
Add a cute geometric sweater over your joggers, or use it to top off a super-packable jersey dress…
Here’s a darker version that you can use in the same way.
More shoe options? How about these cute Armani wingtip sneakers? I just bought patent wingtips in Italy and I’m having so much fun wearing them.

And these gray wedge booties are comfortable and stylish at the same time. You can wear them with almost anything.
Pack a soft, chunky sweater like one of these.
Here’s how you might throw things together once you’ve settled in.
A simple sweater with a Peter Pan collar is a good idea, too. It adds just a touch of dressiness, especially if you put on some edgy earrings and carry a cute clutch.
But if that collar is just a bit too sweet for you, wear a simple cashmere-blend crew neck sweater, like this one in Marsala. It’s a great piece to mix and match, or to dress up or down.
Here are a few more ideas of how to put all these pieces together – just mix and match and try it again…
A graphic-print midi skirt brings some unexpected whimsy to your outfits. This one, with architectural details and tulips is adorable.
Here’s another version – how about a Van Gogh skirt? (Wear it to Sunday brunch and a visit to the art museum!)
And here’s a dressier one, that you could pair with heels for a city dinner out.
So. Let’s mix and match again…and add a leather jacket and some accessories…
If you want to get even more sophisticated, wear the skirt with your leather jacket and spike-y ankle boots. And pair that soft jersey dress with the same booties you wore in the car, and a big cameo brooch. A little fur or faux-fur scarf can dress things up, too.
For longer stays, add a sensuous “going out” top, and another jacket for even more outfit options.
Little Extras For Setting the Mood…
Bring along a travel candle that makes you feel special! I love this passion fruit and citrus tin from Aquiesse.
Add some tunes to the room, with your Dr. Dre Pill. (Make a romantic playlist before you go!)
And trick your phone out with a poetic pink cover like this one…
Or this one…
Reminder: Don’t forget a swimsuit for the Jacuzzi…
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve forgotten to take a swimsuit with me, especially in the winter. It’s counterintuitive – but when you get to that fancy resort you’ll want to take advantage of the spa. Without having to pay gift shop prices for a bathing suit!
Don’t you think this retro-style two piece is adorable? I know it’s not for everyone, but I love it!
If you don’t want to channel your inner pin-up girl, you could also go for this one-piece with sexy cutouts. (A string bikini just doesn’t feel right in the middle of winter, unless you’re actually on a beach.)
And take something to cover up with on the way to the Jacuzzi. (‘Cause baby, it’s cold outside!)
This loose jersey is perfect, and it’s another piece that can do double duty if need be.
The TOTALLY Unromantic Bonus Tip
Bring along something that is SERIOUSLY unromantic…
Yep. Static Guard.
Hotel rooms are notorious for creating static in the winter.
Wrapping up in hats and scarves doesn’t help. But having your hair standing on end is probably not your best look! So bring the SG. Travel size is best.
Now get out there and enjoy your getaway!
