I’ve been so busy starting our new SmithHönig home decor line that I forgot to blog!

Yep, I’m the travel blogger without a post…But I’m not sad! In fact, I’m celebrating!

Here’s why.

I’ve been making lots of new art – based on lots of new travel – and this past January, Kellie Smith of Design Asylum Blog and I launched our new home decor line – AND our new company!

Here is one colorful corner of our booth at AmericasMart Atlanta – the largest wholesale marketplace in America!

Every item in our booth is inspired by – or collected from – one of our travels. And each product has a story. Our product line includes our own designs as wall art (on metal, leather, canvas and wood), pillows and (coming soon!) fabric by the yard.

We have an art piece on leather, for instance, that is inspired by London’s iconic punk scene…

We’re also adding new items every day, including hand-embroidered pillows from Bedouin villages in the Negev Dessert…one-of-a-kind textiles and special items collected on our ongoing travels.

(…right now we’re in Morocco and we just returned from Japan, so expect lots of new items hitting the website soon…)

It took us a long time to get to this point – traveling, designing, creating our palettes, working with trusted manufacturers and craftspeople, photographing our products….

…then tagging, wrapping, crating and transporting…

Here we are setting up our booth at the Mart, in preparation for launch!

We actually had lots of help – but I love how self-sufficient we look here!

Finally, the booth was set up, the wholesale catalog and the retail website were up and running, and our 500 SKUs were ready for sale!

(Yep – 500!)

The show was amazing and we loved meeting new clients, designers, fellow exhibitors and old friends.

We even won the award for Best Visual Display in our category of Lighting & Decor!

(What? Can you believe it?)

Now, we’re busy fulfilling orders, tweaking the website, promoting our products – and of course, traveling – and planning what’s next!

(Which means some new travel posts coming soon! And some new products, too.)
