About SmithHönig

SmithHönig is a décor and furnishings company that creates custom patterns and imagery inspired by its founders’ world travels.

Visual artist and travel connoisseur Melanie Hönig and award-winning interior designer Kellie Smith have channeled their wanderlust and love of design into producing one-of-a-kind fabrics, wallcover, murals, pillows, wall art and more.  Each of their exclusive images tells a story, creating a luxurious, cross-cultural layering of traditions from around the globe.

About Kellie

Kellie Smith’s work has been featured in Rizzoli’s “Decorate Fearlessly” by Susanna Salk, Sandow Media’s “Best of Office” and “Best of Residential” design books and more. Her work as a contract carpet designer and colorist is reflected in the interiors of office buildings, hotel chains and commercial establishments around the world.

Her lifelong love of color inspired her to create a signature paint line, Velvet Finishes by Kellie Smith. The line’s gorgeous palette and no-fuss application has inspired DIY’ers across the country. Kellie lives with her husband, motorcross racing son and horse loving step-daughter, and shares her unique and irreverent take on the design process at Design Asylum Blog.

About Melanie

Melanie shares her passion for global cultures on her lifestyle and travel blog, Rover@Home, where her love of international house parties and stylish vacation rentals takes center stage.

About Melanie

Melanie is a classically trained artist and photographer who spends up to four months a year traveling with her Nikon and iPhone in a quest to create and collect images for SmithHönig. Her travels have taken her off the beaten path and into some fairly unique places. She’s attended black-tie affairs inside China’s Forbidden City, taught workshops in Crimean Tatar villages and served as an impromptu “lady in waiting” for Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York. Since picking up an unused Brownie camera at the age of seven, Melanie has been intrigued by how the world looks through a lens.

Melanie shares her passion for global cultures on her lifestyle and travel blog, Rover@Home, where her love of international house parties and stylish vacation rentals takes center stage.
