Happy Black Friday! It’s Kathy from @uptodateinteriors back to spend one more day with you and share a little more about our dining room. Our little single story 60’s ranch has an open concept living /dining room so this is our only eating space. When I participated in the @oneroomchallenge last Spring I was inspired by American silk textilist, Jim Thompson, who lived in Bangkok. While we were vacationing in Thailand I was able to visit his house and gardens. You can see a couple of his bird prints on our dining room wall. I wanted to get the most out of the small room but with lots of style so I used a glass table, banquet style seating, and global inspired fabric. My grandpa found the fabulous Romeo Rega table base at an estate sale and I found the glass top and MCM dining chairs on @facebookmarketplace. I wanted a pop of pink in this space to lighten the rest of the living areas with deep blues and greens. SmithHönig’s Thread Bare Fabric had the perfect colors and pattern for them and looks great with all of the other prints in the room. It works so well for everyday use but also makes a stunning feature when the room is decorated for the holidays. I’ve always loved using non-traditional colors for seasonal and holiday decor and this fabric is so easy to decorate around.

It’s Kathy again from @uptodateinteriors popping in to wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving! We have spent so many holidays away from family due to military duty stations and deployments but no matter where we were, we always brought friends together to express gratitude for all the blessings in our lives. When you are in the military, your community becomes your family and I’m so grateful for those friends. Now that my husband is retired and we are back home I’m so thankful that we can spend the unforeseeable future together not only with my immediate family but extended family as well. Wahoo!! It is seriously like Christmas times 100. What are you thankful for this year?

Back to my Thanksgiving table and those gorgeous SmithHönig Thread Bare Fabric chairs. I have to tell you that I was a little worried about keeping them clean with daily use at first so I used two coats of scotchgard to help protect them and I can’t believe how easy they are to keep looking new! I’ve already removed syrup and spaghetti sauce with just a damp cloth. I love a product that is made beautifully and to last and that pattern is my favorite. You might have also spied the lovely Lotus Pink tassel as a napkin ring from SmithHönig. Isn’t it a delightful way to add more global bohemian vibes?

Hi, I’m Kathy from @uptodateinteriors and I’m thrilled to be doing an Instagram takeover for SmithHönig over the next few days. I’m a retired military spouse, mother, musician, and interior decorator who loves to incorporate pieces we brought back from living in Asia into our newish 1960’s Fort Worth ranch. You can describe my style as global eclectic with a world-travel, curated aesthetic.

I’ve been smitten with SmithHönig for a few years now and love how well their global inspired fabrics, wallpaper, and decor fit into our space! One of my favorite items that I’ve used over and over again is the Thread Bare fabric (on the chairs). You can see how beautiful it is with our dining table! I’ve also made over a music cabinet with the Venice Fade peel and stick wallpaper (and @velvetfinishes’ Opulent) and our daughter’s room with a Japanese obi pillow, green velvet pillow and beautiful pink silk tassel. I decided to use the fun boho vibe from my Thread Bare fabric covered MCM chairs as inspiration for our Thanksgiving table this year. I used my grandmother’s Dresden and crystal glasses layered with modern plates, napkins, and vintage bamboo servingware. I love my DIY faux heirloom pumpkins as a centerpiece since they tie into the textile colors beautifully.
