Kelli Collins’ home, Mango Manor, is like stepping into a technicolor tropical escape. The vibrant vacation vibes come from the playful artwork, bold color palette and pattern mix throughout the 2,200 square foot Florida ranch style home. Her look is eclectic, fresh and fun with a definite maximalist feel. Her waterside home is located in Cocoa Beach, on the Space Coast of Florida and is a reflection of her expansive travels and experiences—Kelli has traveled to all seven continents!
“I’ve always been into the bohemian lifestyle,” said Kelli. “I love the vibrant colors used all around the world and have tried to incorporate them into Mango Manor! “
Mango Manor, named after a vintage street sign the frequent thrifter found and had to bring home, isn’t just a name, it’s a lifestyle. It’s about positivity, Mai Tai nights and island vibes. It’s about bringing as much of the endless summer meets “I’m on vacation” feel into your every day as possible. And the home is a direct reflection of the colorful and artistic people who live there: Kelli, her handy husband Tony, their two daughters, Lindy & Mallory, and their puppy, Sage. You won’t find any plain white walls or of-the-moment trends here—instead you will find bold colors and boundless creativity.
“Music is always playing, incense is always burning, and we’re always creating—anything from food to art to home renovations,” said Kelli.
One of the latest spaces to be revived by the Collins crew is their patio, better known as the Mermaid Tiki lounge. If you’re looking for muted colors and stately serenity, look elsewhere. This space is lively, loud and lived-in. The heated pool and spa, with its waterfall and built-in table is a frequent spot for the family to chill. The patio is one of the most high-traffic areas of the home, a lounging spot between the pool and the house itself.
“The inspiration for our lounge area was a mix between the colors found in the Keys as well as the old Hawaiian Tiki vibe that I love so much,” said Kelli.
The gorgeous outdoor lounge works as an extension of her dreamy home and connects it to her pool oasis. And of course, it’s colorful, playful and fun. The bright white Teddi conversation set from The Novogratz is the perfect backdrop for her signature splashes of color—like our outdoor throw pillow in Neela Blue and luxurious velvet pillow in Golden.
“SmithHönig is the perfect partner for this project because of their unique and eclectic global selection,” said Kelli. “I absolutely love their bold color choices and they have everything from statement pieces to the perfect accents!”
Kelli’s lounge is now like a game of “Find the Tassel”, with our cowrie shell tassels in Mariposa and Azure, and Shar Sheeba Wool Tassels bedecking everything from her loveseat to a planter to the “Hippies Use Backdoor” sign.
Other fun touches include a “Find me under the palms” LED neon sign from Brite Lite and her Tuk Tuk corner bar which has its own international backstory: The Tuk Tuk is a common form of transportation in cities around India. This vintage one has been turned into an eye-catching storage bar after most likely used as a mode of transportation for school children. Now it’s the Tiki Hut, home to the collection Kelli has been growing since she was 16-years-old.
Kelli loves sharing details of her travels to all seven continents and the art, inspiration and experience she gained along the way. She really finds inspiration everywhere—from travel blogs to Airbnb’s to restaurants and from others on Instagram like Candy Colored Home, Home Ec Op, TheKwendyhome and Colorful Kimmes. She even finds inspiration in boredom.
“I love to show my everyday life with the world, and that the doldrums can actually be quite fun,” said Kelli. “Boredom is actually amazing for creativity. I’ve found that when we have nothing else to do, my entire family does amazing things.”
“We connect with nature. My girls help me in the garden with our flowers, herbs and tropical fruit trees. We will make mandalas and flower creations from the foliage in our yard. We cook together and sit down to eat as a family every single night. We don’t rush to eat or wake up in the morning.“
And they are always coming up with something creative to make together: They just worked together to install a surfboard shower out on their lanai (who doesn’t love a creative upcycle?) and are planning a desk area in their space bedroom.
“A fast approach to life can also be a superficial one,” says Kelli. “When you take the time to slow down you can be forced to confront what’s happening inside of you and connect with yourself on a deeper level.”
